Eibar vs Valencia Preview
The Monday night game in LaLiga comes from Ipurua as Eibar look to build on a fine result this time last week. They will fancy their chances too against an inconsistent Valencia side that is currently one point and several places worse off.
Eibar are so far defying the odds yet again in LaLiga. Following a difficult season last time around when they were involved in the relegation scrap for much of the campaign, many suspected this might be the year they finally dropped out. Certainly there was strong reason to question where their goals would come from with last season’s chief creator and top scorer Fabian Orellana no longer at the club.
They’ve not exactly been prolific with a return of 8 goals, the joint worst in the Spanish top flight heading into this matchday. However they did find two in an impressive 2-0 win at Betis last Monday. The second via a penalty from Esteban Burgos, his third of the season making the centre-back Eibar’s top scorer alongside Kike Garcia.
Valencia come into this game following a narrow 1-0 home defeat against Atletico Madrid last time out. This in theory is one of their easier matches in a tough run of games which sees them face all of last season’s top four within the space of seven fixtures.
Sometimes Los Che do seem to raise themselves better in those glamour games and Ipurua, LaLiga’s least glamorous destination, certainly hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for them. They haven’t won at Eibar since 2014 and their chances aren’t helped here by the absence of a couple of defenders.

Hugo Guillamón is suspended for the visitors while Jose Gaya is injured. Kangin Lee and Denis Cheryshev are expected to be absent again having recently tested positive for COVID-19.

All of their victories so far this season have come on the road and they haven’t won at Ipurua since a 3-1 win over Real Valladolid in July. A draw looks the most likely outcome here with Valencia having showed some spirit to fight back against Alaves in this part of the world in their last road game.
